2013 DANCING OVER THE BUG RIVER

SPRING/SUMMER 2013 DANCING OVER THE BUG RIVER

Folk fashion is one of Margarita Kozak's favorite themes, which has always held a special place in the designer's work. However, in the haute couture collection "Dancing over the Bug River" the designer expressed folk fashion through painting for the first time.

One form of painting that has come to us from ancient times is batik - hand-painted silk. Among Ukrainian masters of this art, the artist Nadezhda Boretskaya from Khmelnytskyi holds a prominent place. Her series of paintings "Dancing over the Bug River" immerses the viewer in the poetic depths of Ukrainian people's history, referring to such images as the Cossack Mamay and his beautiful contemporaries.

These wonderful paintings inspired Margarita Kozak to create a unique clothing collection, "Dancing over the Bug River." Each model is based on a painting from Nadezhda Boretskaya's ethnographic series of the same name. Coming to life with vibrant silks and original ethnic accessories by Margarita Kozak, each painting forms its own unique image of a beautiful Ukrainian woman, captivating the gaze and enchanting the soul in a dance over the Bug River...

The collection was created specifically to represent Ukraine at the Silk Way International Festival of Song, Fashion, and Beauty (Chisinau, Moldova, 2012).
